Prior to joining Capita SIMS, Graham spent 13 years in teaching, as a science teacher, Head of ICT and latterly as the Deputy Head of a large secondary school in Manchester. This is where he first started using SIMS and became passionate about the impact of management information systems on student achievement. Graham will be showing how the data reporting and interactive data dashboard capabilities in the new SIMS Primary solution help school leaders by allowing them to see patterns, trends and stories in the data they hold that might otherwise not be easy to spot.
Natasha is leading the team responsible for the delivery of the SIMS Primary product, which we are proud to be launching at Bett 2018. Prior to joining Capita, Natasha worked as a Primary school teacher – and her experience in the classroom has helped shape the new software and ensure it will transform the teacher’s use of SIMS. Natasha will be showing how teachers can use SIMS Primary to spend less time undertaking classroom tasks, and more time getting value out of the information in SIMS to help them better understand their pupils and class.
Adam Lancaster is an Assistant Headteacher and secondary school Librarian in Hertfordshire. He has worked in school libraries for many years and previously as a school advisor, helping primary and secondary schools raise their attainment through literacy and reading. Adam is a past Chair of national reading charity The Federation of Children's Book Groups and a published writer of poetry and short stories. As the person behind the ‘Impact Through Reading’ approach Adam will be explaining how a focus on attitudes to reading, allied with strategies to address reading habits can make a real impact on reading outcomes.
Ben Jones is an expert in school engagement strategies having been responsible for these solutions for Capita SIMS over the last 6 years. Frequently found inside schools of all types, talking to school leaders and teachers about how to successfully engage parents, Ben knows what works. At the Bett show, Ben will be showcasing the SIMS Parent Lite app, a new solution to help schools keep their data up to date and address some of the challenges the forthcoming GDPR regulations. He is also looking forward to showing the wider capabilities of the SIMS Parent App solution.
An acknowledged expert in schools’ finance systems, before joining Capita Ian worked for a local authority for 14 years, where he was senior accountant for schools. After joining Capita as a finance training consultant, Ian worked for 22 years overseeing the hugely popular SIMS FMS solution, in use in over 14,000 schools. Today, Ian leads the team delivering the new SIMS Finance solution for academies and Multi-Academy Trusts that is launching at Bett 2018. Ian will be explaining how SIMS Finance will significantly improve the way academies and MATs manage financial data.
Tom is an experienced secondary school senior leader who more recently supports multi-academy trusts as they grow and develop. Tom has experience in planning and implementing assessment and accountability systems with multiple schools. At The Diocese of Worcester Multi Academy Trust (DoWMAT), he is a key member of the operations team for the academy conversion process and is responsible for setting and delivering the trust’s long-term Strategic ICT plan. Tom looks forward to sharing his experiences as schools in the DoWMAT become the first schools in the country to use SIMS Primary.
Steve Cole is a best-selling children’s author whose sales exceed three million copies. Steve’s work includes the hugely successful Astrosaurs young fiction series, which has been a UK top-ten children’s bestseller and been published widely internationally. He works in schools across the UK delivering high energy, ukulele-accompanied masterclasses in primary schools to encourage reading and creative writing. For Year 6 and above he introduces his explosive Young Bond books, giving a unique insight into 1930’s gadgets, gangsters and writing stories in a lively and interactive way that enthuses and inspires both students and teachers.
Ian has worked in education for over 40 years, more than half of them in senior leadership roles, including two headships in Scottish secondary schools before moving to the UAE in 2013. He was the Founding Principal of GEMS Metropole School in Dubai that serves the 3-18 age range. Ian now has responsibility for ten of GEMS schools in the UAE. Throughout his career, Ian has led change and innovation both in education and administration and has represented education on a variety of multidisciplinary working parties and strategy groups. In his current post, Ian has been instrumental in the decision to deploy SIMS throughout GEMS NCfE schools and Indian curriculum schools. Ian will be sharing the rationale and process that underpin the development.
